Chateau Doisy-Védrines
On May 29, 1704, Jean-Baptiste Lapaise de Védrines’ father, Jean-Baptiste de Védrines married his mother, Marie de Raymond. He inherited the Chateau Doisy-Védrines and its vineyard from Marie’s father, which now carries his name.
The Chateau is located northwest of Ste. Livrade near Bordeaux.
The Chateau Doisy-Védrines was inherited by Jean Baptiste Lapaise deVédrines’ brother, Pierre de Védrines, and it’s where Pierre and most of his children died. It remained the possession of the family for about 150 years through four generations until it was sold by Jean-Baptiste Lapaise de Védrines’ great nephew, Jean-Charles Michel Védrines between the years 1815 – 1835.
The Casteja family has had the chateau and its vineyard for several generations. Led by Olivier Casteja, it continues to produce the delicious wine today.
