Monday of this week was the 168th anniversary of the death of Etienne Vidrine, dit Lapaise (the second of the two sons of Jean Baptiste Lapaise de Védrines and Elisabeth de Moncharvaux) who died on February 20, 1849, apparently at his home at the Quartier dit Baton Rouge (the name of Ville Platte, LA at that time). Unfortunately, the place of his burial is not known. It could be in what became Le Vieux Cimetière (the Old Ville Platte Cemetery) or perhaps St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. A little over half of all descendants of Jean Baptiste Lapaise de Védrines and Elisabeth de Moncharvaux descend from Etienne Vidrine, dit Lapaise. Of the two brothers, he has the most descendants who show up at the Vidrine Family Reunions, for example.
